If there is one political constant in the career of Doug Ford, going way back to 2010, it’s the so-called “war on cars” that he keeps counterattacking.
Now, the premier is savouring a fresh legal victory after his plan to bulldoze some of Toronto’s most contested bike lanes just won judicial validation. Ontario’s highest court ruled unanimously this month that Ford’s battle plan does not violate any Charter rights, overturning a surprise 2025 verdict that found the removal of bike lanes unconstitutional.
