Midfielder Morgan Rogers signed for Chelsea from Aston Villa in a record £117 million deal.

The Premier League's spending power has once again been on full display this transfer window, with clubs committing hundreds of millions of pounds to assembling their squads ahead of the new season that kicked off on Friday night.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham have been among the biggest spenders, with the Blues' £117m (about R2.56bn) acquisition of Morgan Rogers and City's £116m deal for Elliot Anderson currently topping the list of completed transfers.

Spurs have also been particularly aggressive under Roberto De Zerbi, spending £100m (about R2.19bn) on Sandro Tonali and £85m (about R1.86bn) on Mateus Fernandes.

Spurs could soon add another blockbuster signing, with Savinho's proposed move from Manchester City worth up to £85m.
