Leeds United are in talks with Chelsea about loaning Mykhailo Mudryk after an initial proposal was rejected. The 25-year-old has been made available for loan at Stamford Bridge, with his club keen to ensure he plays regularly wherever he ends up before the transfer window closes.Daniel Farke’s side remain keen to reinforce this summer and attackers capable of playing off the left flank or as a No 10 have been shortlisted. Mudryk, a right-footed forward best known for playing down the left, is among Leeds’ preferred options and talks are ongoing with Chelsea, despite an initial knock-back.Leeds are one of several clubs in the UK and Europe to have registered an interest in Mudryk this summer. Strasbourg, who share an owner with Chelsea, are among the other options.Mudryk has not played competitively since November 2024, when he scored in a 2-0 Chelsea win at Heidenheim in the Conference League. This was followed, in December, by a suspension for an adverse finding in a urine sample, for which he was eventually served with a four-year ban in April for doping.Mudryk intended to appeal the punishment, but last month, it was confirmed his ban would be lifted. The Football Association said the concentration of meldonium in his sample would not have been reported as a positive test today or resulted in a violation, following World Anti-Doping Agency revisions. The FA cited this detail, plus “other circumstances of the case”, as to why a resolution to the appeal proceedings had been reached and Mudryk’s ban lifted. The Ukraine international and Chelsea are now focused on ensuring he moves somewhere with assurances of significant game time. After that long absence from competitive action, Mudryk was finally seen in Chelsea colours again this summer. He made three appearances as a late substitute in pre-season and assisted the equaliser in a 3-3 draw with Johor Darul Ta-zim.Leeds and Chelsea begin their Premier League campaigns this weekend. The former travel to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, while the latter visit Fulham on Monday night.
