Africa’s strongest military, Egypt, has joined forces with Türkiye to issue a stark warning against Israel's plans to implement a controversial settlement expansion in the West Bank.

During a diplomatic call, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan strongly criticized the planned E1 settlement project.

The two regional powers made it clear that this project poses a serious threat to the unity of Palestinian territory.

Israel sparks regional backlash with West Bank settlement tenders

The core of the dispute involves Israel opening bidding tenders to construct more than 1,200 new homes in the E1 area, which sits directly east of Jerusalem.
