The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has recorded a 33% year-on-year growth in mango handling, managing 1,226 tonnes of mangoes between April and July 2026.Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL) on Friday said that during the period, the airport shipped 2.63 million pieces to 38 international destinations. Mango shipments were handled through 16 airlines, with the United Kingdom and the United States emerging as the top destinations.“The growth reflects sustained international demand for Indian mangoes and highlights KIA’s role in facilitating the efficient and reliable movement of the seasonal produce through an integrated cold-chain network,” BIAL said.It added that the heart of this journey is WFS BLR Coolport, where temperature-sensitive cargo is supported by specialised cold-chain infrastructure and dedicated temperature zones of 2°C to 8°C, -15°C to -25°C, and 15°C to 25°C. “Every stage of handling is designed to safeguard freshness and ensure that quality travels as reliably as the cargo itself,” it added.
