The food mela, a major attraction of Mysuru Dasara-2026, will be held at Maharaja’s College Grounds from October 11 to 25. Applications have been invited from individuals, restaurants, organic farmers, associations and organisations interested in setting up stalls.The mela will feature traditional cuisines from North and South Karnataka, delicacies from across India and international cuisines, including Chinese, Italian, French, Tibetan and African fare.With an emphasis on healthy food choices, the event will promote natural and organic agricultural products and millet-based dishes. Millet growers, organic farmers, fruit and vegetable vendors, and farmers’ organisations from across Karnataka will be able to display and sell their products.Homemakers, cooks, hotels and institutions preparing traditional and speciality dishes can also participate. The event is aimed at providing local and out-of-State participants a platform to promote their culinary products and enhance the Dasara festivities, according to a press release.Application forms will be available at the office of the Additional Commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation, from September 1 to 16. Completed applications must be submitted by 5.30 p.m. on September 19.Stall allotment will be conducted through a lottery at 11 a.m. on September 22 at Town Hall, after categorising applications based on the type of food proposed. The list of selected applicants will be displayed on the notice board.Selected applicants must submit the prescribed demand draft within the stipulated deadline. Failure to do so will result in the stall being offered to other applicants through a lottery.As soft drinks, ice cream and mineral water have existing sponsorship arrangements, applications for stalls selling these items will not be issued, the release said.
