The Airport Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old male suspect, Benjamin Daniel, in connection with the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl at Sabo Masalashi area, Bassa, Abuja, on 15th August, 2026.
The incident was reported by the victim’s mother at the Abuja Airport Police Division. According to the report, the suspect, who resides in Angua Mandala, allegedly lured the victim into his room under the pretext of purchasing some of the soya bean cake she was selling, where he sexually assaulted her.
Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Abuja Airport Police Division, immediately advised the victim’s parents, facilitated her prompt medical attention, and mobilised personnel to locate and arrest the suspect. The suspect was subsequently arrested and remains in police custody as investigation continues. His statement was obtained in the presence of his mother, in accordance with applicable procedures for handling juvenile suspects. The Command has also ensured that appropriate measures are being taken to safeguard the welfare and wellbeing of the victim, while the suspect will be brought before a juvenile court of competent jurisdiction upon conclusion of investigation.
