MANILA, Philippines — Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon has urged his fellow lawmakers who were falsely accused by the former bodyguards of ex-Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co of receiving money to go after the people behind these stories, as several witnesses recanted their statements.
Ridon in an online press briefing on Friday said that while he was not implicated as among those who received money under the separate testimonies of Co’s former aide Orly Guteza and the “18 bodyguards,” other House of Representatives lawmakers who may have been implicated should charge those behind these supposed falsehoods.
“Of course we will leave it to whichever camp, because with the claims of Mr. Guteza I am not personally involved there. But all those implicated — first in the Guteza affidavit; and second, in the maleta boys affidavits […] they are free and have the basis to go after those behind this, not only the former Marines, former soldiers, but the politicians involved here,” Ridon said.
“And I would recommend my colleagues in the House to do so for us to complete the story about this matter, that it is not just the former Marines, maleta boys who were involved in this slander, but actual political operatives who really used them for this matter,” he added.
