MANILA, Philippines – The donation of land by the Villar family to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is expected to strengthen the benefits of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension by making public transportation more accessible to residents living outside Metro Manila, according to Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan.

Pangilinan said improved transport connectivity could help address the gap between residential communities on the outskirts of the capital and employment opportunities concentrated in Metro Manila.

“I think it will help out the population in the outlying areas if you have good public transportation because the jobs are here in Manila, right?” Pangilinan said.
