Estate agent Carter Jonas is selling the site on behalf of receivers for Plymouth Sound Properties Ltd, which bought it for £6 million in 2019. The island possesses a rich maritime history, having served as the starting point for Sir Francis Drake’s voyage to circumnavigate the globe in 1577, as well as voyages by Captain Cook and Charles Darwin. Prior to its sale, the landmark generated £590,000 in gross income in 2023 through guided tours, filming, and events.
