On Friday, President Donald Trump announced a 90-day window during which as many as 300,000 metric tons of ground beef could be imported outside of tariff-rate quotas, a move aimed at bringing down costs for American consumers.

Trump announced the move in a social media post Friday. "Today, I concluded a deal to substantially lower the price of ground beef for working American families," he said. The president said the imported beef would be sold at 25% below current market prices, but did not identify which countries the beef would come from or who had committed to that pricing. The White House did not respond to a request for comment, according to Bloomberg.
