Not every nursing pillow on the market meets current safety rules. Consumer Reports evaluated six brands against the newest standards

Nursing pillows help support a baby during feeding, but new federal safety rules took effect in 2025 after years of reported suffocation and entrapment risks. Firmness, opening width and warning labels all changed under the new requirements, and pillows made before April 2025 can still legally be sold even if they don't meet the updated standard.
Consumer Reports evaluated six nursing pillow brands against the new safety criteria, so parents can see which ones actually comply before bringing one home.
