I remember thinking I wished I’d lived in Fourways when I was little and growing up. How hilarious is that? You’re probably thinking, out of all the places in the entire world, why The Ways? Well, I had a friend who had a cousin who used to get up to all sorts of fun out there on the weekends and it sounded like all the good vibes were happening that side.

Where we lived, we had a very old putt putt course and an even older ten pin bowling club. They did, however, add a pool table at some point just before it closed down, so that was a whole lot of extra excitement right there.

Fourways had fancy adventure golf inside the mall, fancy movie theatres and even an arcade. So lucky. I was giggling so hard thinking about how badly I wanted all of that when we were young because gosh, it really was slim pickings for us kiddos back then.

Of course, we found things to do because that’s what you did before someone invented a screen you could carry around all day containing every form of entertainment known to humankind. We rode bikes, roller skated, made mixtapes, played board games, collected stickers and spent an extraordinary amount of time hanging around doing absolutely nothing.
