Arsenal have agreed a deal worth £51 million plus add-ons to sign defender Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa, giving the Premier League champions the defensive reinforcement they’ve been chasing as the transfer window enters its final stretch.
The 28-year-old England international is expected to sign a multi-year contract at the Emirates after completing a medical.
How the deal came together
Arsenal’s opening bid came in around £40 million, a figure that Villa apparently found about as appealing as a cold cup of tea. The final structure, a £51 million base fee with performance-related add-ons that could push the total higher, suggests both sides found a compromise they could live with. Villa, for their part, appear to have accepted that with only two years remaining on Konsa’s contract, the leverage wasn’t entirely in their corner.
The deal was reported on August 19, 2026.
