The AAC alleged that these critical environmental buffer zones have been handed over to individuals closely affiliated with the minister and are being rapidly developed into private estates and commercial properties.
The African Action Congress (AAC), FCT Chapter, has called for the immediate dismissal of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, accusing him and the leadership of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) of criminally distorting the Abuja Master Plan, a distortion it says has caused severe, artificial flooding across the nation's capital.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, signed by FCT Chapter chairman Agena Robert Ande on behalf of the party's executive committee, the AAC said the flooding currently destroying homes, roads, and livelihoods across Abuja is a direct result of organised land grabbing, corruption, and environmental degradation under Wike's administration.
"The African Action Congress, AAC FCT Chapter, expresses grave concern and outright condemnation over the deliberate distortion of the Abuja Master Plan by the current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and his team at the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA," the statement read.
