There's something of the Night about the Coolmore City Of Troy Nunthorpe Stakes. It’s going to be fast and furious over the 5f distance and NIGHT RAIDER (3.35) has the form to land this prestigious Group 1 sprint. His most recent start, when down the field in the Group 2 King George at Glorious Goodwood, does need forgiving but he was always on the back foot after a sluggish start. He put a duck egg in the form figures next to his name at Royal Ascot, as well, but that wasn’t his fault, either, as he was first home of the unfavoured far-side group. His first two starts of the season are a much fairer reflection of his ability. He made all the running to win Newmarket’s Group 2 Palace House on his return to action and he backed it up with an even better victory when defeating American Affair in the Temple Stakes at Haydock. There’s every chance he has improved over the last year and that gives him a great chance of improving significantly on his fourth in last year’s Nunthorpe. Have 1pt each-way at 12-1. Sky Bet is paying out on five places.BLUE COURVOISIER (1.50) didn’t get the clearest of passages when a close third over 1m2f at Glorious Goodwood three weeks ago. He was another runner with little chance from a low draw at Royal Ascot in the Britannia Stakes but he had looked much more promising earlier in the season. There’s likely to be no excuses today and the return to a mile is a positive. Have 1pt each-way at 9-1. A couple of firms are offering six places.ERNST BLOFELD (4.10) wasn’t best positioned in the rear early on at Ascot’s Shergar Cup. His previous form over 1m4f is good. He finished fourth behind Asgard’s Captain on his first run for Hamad Al Jehani Newmarket in May.That was a stepping stone to a second career success when brushing aside his rivals on Kempton’s all-weather track. He looks to have gone off the boil but he’s had excuses and this race should pan out nicely for him. Have 1pt each-way at 16-1. Most bookies are going five places.DREAM CAMP (5.20) bounced back from a below-par run at Royal Ascot to win at Windsor on her first try at today’s 1m2f distance. She still looks well treated. Have 1pt each-way at 10-1. Most firms are paying five places.
