Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa assured a delegation on Thursday that necessary steps would be taken to fulfil the demands of midday meal workers, including fixing a minimum wage and increasing the lump-sum amount.The Minister made this assurance during a meeting at his office with members of the State Akshara Dasoha Midday Meal Workers Association, who had been protesting at Freedom Park.“A cabinet sub-committee has been constituted regarding the revision of minimum wages. I am also a member of it. I am definitely paying attention to the problems of midday meal workers. You are a part of the government and are taking care of our children. I will discuss this issue with the Chief Minister and (I will) help you according to government rules,” the Minister assured the delegation.The delegation requested the Minister to extend the Gruhalakshmi Scheme to midday meal workers. Responding to this, the Minister said, “The five guarantee schemes implemented by our government have strengthened your household economy.
