BENGALURUMinister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa told the Legislative Assembly on Thursday that the monthly honorarium for guest lecturers in pre-university colleges had been increased from ₹12,000 to ₹14,000.Replying to a question raised by Congress member Nayana Motamma during Question Hour, Mr. Bangarappa said guest lecturers were not entitled to any facilities other than the honorarium, as the rules did not permit it. Guest lecturers have been assigned 10 hours of teaching each week, he said.In response to a question by Congress member B. Chimmanakatti, Backwards Classes and Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi said the Kannada and Culture Department did not provide pensions or other facilities to Padma awardees in the State.Mr. Chimmanakatti said several other States provided pensions and housing facilities to their Padma awardees and urged the government to extend similar benefits to awardees from Karnataka.
