The Association of University Teachers Tamil Nadu (AUT) has urged Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to “intervene personally” and take steps to resolve long-pending issues related to the implementation of Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for teachers serving in government-aided colleges across the state.In a press release on Thursday, AUT general secretary K. Raja suggested that the ‘discriminative’ Selection Committee for CAS in aided colleges could be removed. The association urged the government to expedite and approve all pending CAS proposals and ensure that eligible teachers receive their service and monetary benefits.AUT said that it hoped the issue would feature in the discussion on ‘Demands for Higher Education’ on August 24 in the State Assembly.
