Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) on Wednesday waved away outrage over his quip that President Donald Trump prefers traveling with White House aide Natalie Harp to actually doing his job, slamming administration members over their anger and stating bluntly that “no one cares about their feelings.”The Democrat made his case on MS NOW during an appearance on “The Last Word.”“Lawrence, it’s been amazing to watch this White House melt down over this all week,” Ossoff told host Lawrence O’Donnell. “And about Natalie Harp — these White House staffers are adults, public officials paid by the taxpayer, with immense power, in positions of public trust.”He continued, “And whether it’s Natalie Harp printing out Donald Trump’s daily dose of delusion and flattery, or [Trump adviser] Peter Navarro steering taxpayer-funded loans to Trump family investments, or [Secretary of Defense] Pete Hegseth deluding the president daily into deepening this quagmire in the Middle East, no one cares about their feelings.”Ossoff was referring to footage that recently surged online of Trump dictating a Truth Social post to Harp, pointing out his accumulation of wealth and unpopular war on Iran — which Trump claimed in March during the early stages of the conflict would last mere weeks. The war has already cost at least 18 U.S. military service members their lives and resulted in an extended deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln that has reportedly spurred multiple sailors to attempt to jump from the aircraft carrier in an apparent mental health crisis on board.“The sailors on the Lincoln are fighting his war, a war based on lies, while he plays with his new ballroom, flies around on a jet given to him by a foreign prince, and retreats into this circle of sycophantic aides,” Ossoff told O’Donnell. The senator argued that this inner sanctum of acolytes is incapable of telling Trump “what he needs to hear” and that the entire White House is culpable of “lying the country into war” — calling the ongoing conflict an “obscenity” that will haunt them “for the rest of their careers.”Ossoff sparked sizable outrage from MAGA pundits and Trump officials after stating Sunday during a rally, “See, he doesn’t want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar.”Several critics have pushed back against the supposed controversy of the statement, as Trump has both made countless disparaging comments about women and indeed accepted a $400 million luxury jet from Qatar — before quietly granting the oil-rich theocracy a U.S. defense guarantee.Ossoff is currently running for reelection in Georgia against GOP nominee Mike Collins. He told O’Donnell, “I expect them to spend tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars to try to win this Senate race” and wrapped with a damning claim about the Trump administration’s war on Iran — calling it a conflict that “they know not how to end or how to win.”Watch the full “Last Word” segment on MS NOW’s YouTube account.
