HIM assembles the V8E from imported knocked-down kits at a facility in Purwakarta, West Java, about 80 kilometres southeast of Jakarta. Although Farizon has not established its own factory in Indonesia, this marks the first time one of its models is being assembled overseas from knocked-down kits.
According to a report from GridOto.com, Farizon’s official distributor in Indonesia, Arista Group, has invested tens of billions of Indonesian rupiah in localising the V8E. “The range, plus or minus, is Rp 40-50 billion (~€1.9-2.4 million). This is for one model, but there are other common models being added,” Christoforus Ronny, Director, PT Arista Manufacturing Indonesia, is quoted as saying.
Ronny also told local media that, from September, HIM will assemble Farizon’s F3E light truck as well. Additionally, Arista Group is looking at localising the SuperVan (SV), but currently the company imports that electric van as a CBU.
The installed capacity for all Farizon products combined is approximately 1,000 units, and HIM will initially roll out approximately 80 units of the V8E per month, kumparanOTO reported. Ronny said that the V8E can be localised to an extent of around 40 per cent, which, following the due certification process, could qualify the model for a reduced tax rate.
