Salem District Collector, K. Elambahavath, on Thursday (August 20, 2026), stated that in the last four years, 3,523 students in Salem district have benefited from the free coaching provided for various competitive exams by the District Employment and Career Guidance Centre.In a release, the Collector said that a free coaching class for the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Group II and IIA preliminary examination, announced by the TNPSC, will commence on Friday (August 28) at 10 a.m. at the District Employment and Career Guidance Centre located at Gorimedu on Yercaud Main Road.The training will be conducted by experienced faculty members in competitive exams. Free mock exams will be conducted and scores will be shared instantly. All books required for preparing for the exam have been kept in the library, functioning at the centre, for the use of the students.In the last four years, free coaching has been conducted by the Salem District Employment Department for various competitive examinations like TNPSC, TRB, MRB, and TNUSRB. A total of 3,523 candidates received training, of whom 563 people have passed the competitive examinations and are working in various government departments to date. Candidates who have completed a minimum of Class VIII, graduates, and those with technical education shall participate in the job fair with their education certificate and copies of their ration and Aadhaar cards.
