Initial claims fell by 6,000 in the week ending Aug. 15, but the 4-week moving average rose to 204,000

The Labor Department reported Thursday that seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims totaled 206,000 in the week ending August 15, a decrease of 6,000 from the prior week's revised level of 212,000.
The previous week's figure was revised up by 3,000 from an initially reported 209,000. Despite the week-over-week decline in initial claims, the 4-week moving average rose to 204,000, an increase of 4,250 from the prior week's revised average of 199,750.
