Springbok Women's flyhalf Mary Zulu will lead the South African Women's ‘A’ squad on their tour to Brazil.

Mary Zulu will captain a youthful SA Women's ‘A’ squad on a historic tour to Brazil as South Africa take another significant step in their drive to build depth around the Springbok Women.

The inaugural SA Women ‘A’ side will depart for South America on Thursday for two matches against Brazil ‘A’ in Sao Paulo on August 24 and 29, with the squad combining eight capped internationals with a group of promising Junior Springbok Women and emerging domestic players.

For Sharks Women's stalwart Zulu, who was part of South Africa's 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup squad, the tour offers another opportunity to stake her claim for higher honours while helping guide a group whose average age is just under 22.

But the selection is also notable for the return of Luchell Hanekom, who also brings Rugby World Cup experience to the squad after recovering from an injury that ruled her out for the early part of the season.
