JLand Group, a real estate group owned by Malaysia’s state of Johor, is looking to develop a data center in a tech park near Johor Bahru, Johor’s main data center hub.
SIPP Power, a subsidiary of utility company YTL Power, announced yesterday that it would acquire 145 acres in Sedenak Tech Park West (STeP West), which is owned by JLand Group through its subsidiary JLG Technopark.

SIPP Power will also have an option to acquire an additional 400 acres for further expansion.
This will be used to build a data center.
