Miami, coming off a 13-3 season and trip to the national championship game, was picked as the runaway favorite to win its first ACC title since joining the league in 2004.Mario Cristobal’s team is loaded with stars and will face a relatively easy conference schedule; the Canes play only two of the top eight teams in the ACC preseason poll (Clemson and Virginia Tech).Assuming the Canes deliver — which is a big assumption for this program — what other ACC team (or teams) could join Miami in the College Football Playoff?I’ll get that question and more in this preseason edition of the ACC mailbag.What’s the over/under for the number of new head coaches in the ACC this time next year? Obviously, all eyes are on Mike Norvell at Florida State and Bill Belichick at North Carolina. But if I were a betting man, I’d set the line at 3.5.Bill O’Brien is in a tough spot at Boston College heading into Year 3. Syracuse’s Fran Brown could also be in trouble if the Orange continue to go in the wrong direction (I don’t think they will). And then there’s the whole deal with Clemson and Dabo Swinney, which is complicated.Favorite college football offseason additionsAntonio MoralesAs far as poach candidates, I think Duke’s Manny Diaz (maybe to Florida State) and Wake Forest’s Jake Dickert could move on to bigger jobs if they continue to win.SMU’s Rhett Lashlee, Louisville’s Jeff Brohm and Georgia Tech’s Brent Key could probably also be swayed with huge offers. But I wouldn’t bet on it happening. I think all three of those guys are back in 2027.Which non-Miami ACC team do you think is most likely to make the CFP without winning the conference? — Sebastian D.SMU and Louisville are the obvious answers, but I wouldn’t rule out Clemson either. All three face top-10 teams, and pulling an upset would obviously strengthen their argument to get in the field with a 10- or 11-win season.The Mustangs and Cardinals, who both started the season ranked in the AP poll, play each other on Sept. 19 in Louisville. SMU also plays at No. 4 Notre Dame, and Louisville opens against ninth-ranked Ole Miss.
