—The dates: The ninth El Gouna Film Festival runs from 15 to 23 October 2026 on Egypt’s Red Sea coast. The first ten titles were announced on 19 August.
—The headline title: Yellow Letters, directed by Ilker Catak, won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2026. It is a German, French and Turkish co-production.
—A shared Cannes prize: Fatherland, by Pawel Pawlikowski, won the best director prize ex aequo at the 79th Cannes Film Festival in May 2026, sharing it with Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi for La Bola Negra, according to the official Cannes winners’ list. It stars Sandra Huller as Erika Mann and Hanns Zischler as Thomas Mann.
