Together they rise: Approximately 250 women came together at Saiva Sithantha Sungum in Westcliff for the World Saiva Council Women’s Forum’s Together We Rise Women’s Day celebration on August 10, embracing a message of empowerment, resilience and sisterhood.

Under the banner of "Together We Rise," over 250 women braved wet conditions to gather at the Saiva Sithantha Sungum in Westcliff recently, turning a Women’s Day event into an afternoon of faith, inspiration, and charity.

Hosted by the World Saiva Council Women’s Forum under the full theme "Together We Rise – Breaking the Silence, Embracing Strength and Empowering Every Woman," the event brought together women of all ages and backgrounds for a programme centered on emotional well-being and sisterhood.

The gathering delivered a tangible community impact, with attendees donating 240 packs of sanitary pads for women and girls living in local safety homes and support centres. World Saiva Council Women’s Forum PRO Mandy Govender will oversee the distribution, scheduled for August 23, to help combat period poverty.

World Saiva Council Women’s Forum chairperson Shireen Thanjan explained that the theme was selected in recognition of the personal, social, and emotional challenges many women face, including gender-based violence, mental health struggles, financial hardship, and social isolation.
