Liverpool have also secured a 10 per cent sell-on clause for the academy graduate, who had entered the final year of his deal at Anfield. The agreement comes after The Athletic reported on Wednesday Inter were closing in on a deal for Jones.

In June, Inter’s bid of around €25m was turned down by Liverpool, who made it clear they were holding out for around €40m. The Italian side first tried to sign Jones in January when they failed in an attempt to get him on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.Jones made 228 senior appearances for Liverpool after making his debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019. He played 49 times in all competitions in 2025-26 but made just 28 starts and grew frustrated at not holding down a regular place in midfield, finishing the campaign playing as a makeshift right-back.New head coach Andoni Iraola made it clear when he took over that he wanted Jones to stay put, but with no progress over a contract extension and with the player keen to pursue a new challenge amid interest from Inter, Liverpool decided to sanction his departure.
