JD Sports has lowered its profit outlook after seeing sales slow in the US

JD Sports has slashed its profit target following a slowdown in sales, as the turnaround led by chief executive Régis Shultz loses steam. The sports and fashion retailer saw sales performance improve in the UK, but a hit in the US and intense discounting by rivals is dragging on the firm’s profit, it said on Thursday. The group downgraded its pre-tax profit target to between £700m and £800m, a cut from its previous range of £750m to £850m.This profit hit comes as Shultz battles to regain the confidence of JD Sports’s investors after a sluggish period for the group’s share price and a lack of firm results from the chief executive’s turnaround plan.More to follow.
