MANILA, Philippines — Former lawmaker Michael Romero has retired from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Reserve Force, relinquishing his post as wing commander of the Tactical Operations Wing Reserve Northern Luzon amid an ongoing military review of reservist promotions and awards.

Romero formally relinquished his duties and retired from the Reserve Force effective Aug. 19, according to a statement from his camp on Thursday.

His retirement came a day after the AFP announced that it was reviewing policies and procedures on the recruitment, promotion and conferment of awards to reserve personnel.
