MANILA, Philippines — The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has recommended blocking the website that livestreamed the Zamboanga school shooting, CICC Undersecretary Renato Paraiso said Thursday.
During a Senate committee on women and children hearing, Paraiso said authorities flagged the website after the Aug. 18 incident, noting that it has a large following and is being used to connect viewers to messaging platforms where similar contents could potentially be shared.
“We’ve already recommended the blocking of the website within the Philippine jurisdiction, but again the website’s following is not really on the website, dun lang iniistream yung mga videos but their following usually talks, discusses, maybe radicalizes, on separate messaging platforms,” Paraiso said.
