Washington (EFE).- The United States President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday a new economic offensive against Iran, describing it as the most impactful operation ever undertaken against a country.
The initiative aims to sever the Islamic Republic’s funding channels and economic support.
«Today, I am announcing the MOST CRUSHING ECONOMIC OPERATION EVER TAKEN AGAINST ANY COUNTRY!» Trump stated on his social network, Truth Social. He warned that any nation allowing its financial institutions, companies, airports, or government entities to provide «any type of lifeline» to Iran will face economic consequences.
The President specified that the measure intends to cut off methods used to evade sanctions and maintain financial flows into Iran, including oil smuggling, currency exchange lines, cash transfers, currency exchange houses, vessel registries, and shell companies.
Trump demanded that all such operations «stop NOW» and warned that Washington will monitor countries and entities that continue to facilitate them.
