Wildfires are reported to have unearthed human bones at a London beauty spot with police officers working to establish the age and identity of the remains. Metropolitan Police officers scrambled to Bedfont Lakes Country Park, Hounslow, last Wednesday after receiving reports that bones had been found. It has since been established that those remains were human - and police have launched an investigation to find out more. Residents told The Sun that recent wildfires in the area could have contributed to the bones being unearthed. Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade responded to at least two separate blazes at Bedfont Lakes Country Park last month - one of which was feared to have been started deliberately. Fires burn away topsoil, the outermost layer of the ground, which can sometimes lead to objects hidden beneath being revealed. This means the skeleton could be either historical or modern. The Met confirmed on Wednesday night that a crime scene remains in place at the west London park. A spokesperson said: 'Police were called at 18:35hrs on Wednesday, 12 August to reports of bones being found at Bedfont Pits, Feltham.
