New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill traveled to multiple states to support other Democrats running for office.

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill hit the campaign trail on Wednesday to support veterans in other states running for Congress in this year's midterm elections. Sherrill, a Democrat and former Naval helicopter pilot who became governor of the Garden State in November 2025, traveled to Massachusetts and New Hampshire on Aug. 19 to campaign alongside three veterans running for office. Those veterans Sherrill campaigned for are Rep. Seth Moulton, who is running for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts; Rep. Maggie Googlander, running for New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District; and Maura Sullivan, running in New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District. According to veterans advocacy group With Honor, 752 veterans have registered to run for the House and Senate this year—the highest number they have recorded since they started tracking this data in 2018. The group also found that while the majority of veteran candidates are affiliated with the Republican Party, some 39% of the candidates are registered Democrats — another record proportion. If Democrats see success in the midterm elections this November, they could upset the balance of power in Congress as Republicans currently hold majorities in the House and Senate.
