The South African Institute of Auctioneers (SAIA) has highlighted the participation of the current National Auctioneer Champion, Vincent Pike, in the US National Auctioneers Association’s (NAA’s) International Auctioneers Championship (IAC). This was held recently in San Antonio, Texas, in the US.
“Representing South Africa at the highest level of international auctioneering was a privilege,” he affirmed. “The experience has motivated me even more to continue improving and to help raise the standard of auctioneering within our own country.”
He competed against 100 international competitors from around the world. The IAC was held as part of the NAA’s annual conference and show. While Pike did not get through to the final round, simply qualifying was itself a noteworthy achievement.
“[He] held the flag up high and earned acclaim for his professional manner and control of his audience,” reported the SAIA. “Audience members responded enthusiastically to his performance and many took the opportunity afterwards to congratulate him and discuss South African auctioneering.”
Further, experienced international auctioneers gave him feedback, and several complimented him on his professionalism, chant and stage presence. They also encouraged him to seek more international opportunities. This positive response showed the respect in which South African auctioneers were held by their international colleagues.
