KORONADAL CITY — A major public elementary school here has shifted to half-day classes as extreme heat is taking a toll on pupils and teachers, with school officials reporting health complaints.

Koronadal Central Elementary School 1 (KCES 1) began implementing the shortened schedule on Monday, allowing about 2,700 learners from kindergarten to Grade 6 to attend face-to-face classes only in the morning.

Principal I Emeline Daruelo said classes run from 7:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with each subject shortened to 30 minutes so teachers can still cover the lessons.
