Ballot counting has ended in many polling units in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election, paving the way for collation of results at ward levels in some local government areas.

Osun has 2, 399,233 registered voters, but only 1,906,390 of them who collected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are eligible to participate in the poll held in the polling units spread across the 332 wards of the 30 local government areas in the South-west state.

Fifteen political parties are participating in the election.

After the results are announced at polling units, they are collated at wards, then at the registration areas, and subsequently at each of the 30 local government levels. The appropriate INEC officials announce the final results at each of the collation centres.

The final collation will then occur at the INEC headquarters in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
