Some All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains have commended the large voter turnout in the ongoing Osun State governorship election.

The chieftains, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilesa, Ibokun and Ilase-Ijesa, described the voter turnout as impressive.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Babatunde Ayeni, commended the peaceful atmosphere in which the election was taking place, as well as the large voter turnout.

Mr Ayeni, who spoke after casting his vote at Ward 10, Unit 13 in Ilesa West Local Government Area, also commended the federal government for providing an enabling environment for voters to exercise their franchise.

The former lawmaker, however, denied allegations of vote-buying, saying that the APC was popular and therefore had no reason to buy votes.
