As part of the country’s Independence Day celebrations, the Government of Pakistan announced the annual list of civil honours. The awardees, who are being recognised for their services to Pakistan in a range of fields, will receive their awards on March 23 (Pakistan Day) next year.
Of a total of 372 awards, 54 will be presented for contributions to the arts, 29 for literature and nine for sports. Notable awardees from the list include actors Sania Saeed, Maria Wasti and Mahmood Aslam; musicians Shiraz Uppal and Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan (Xulfi) and TV host Shafat Ali.
