Mumbai: The Central Railway will augment 22 suburban services on its main line here from 12-car to 15-car rakes from August 15 to ease crowding at satellite towns.With this, the 15-car services on its Mumbai suburban network will rise to 54.The Central Railway, in a release, said the move will increase the carrying capacity of each upgraded service by 25 per cent and benefit commuters travelling to and from Ambernath, Badlapur, Karjat and Khopoli.Of the 22 upgraded services, two will operate during the morning peak hours and two during the evening peak hours, it stated.The 15-car local services were first introduced on the Mumbai suburban network in October 2012, with 16 services. The number increased to 22 in April 2019 and to 32 in July this year following the conversion of 10 more trains.
