The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Coimbatore, has issued a public notice inviting parents or legal guardians to come forward and establish their claim over two children currently under the care of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).According to the notice, a girl child born at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on April 27, 2026, was abandoned at the hospital after delivery. The child was rescued by Child Helpline personnel and produced before the CWC on July 8, 2026. The committee has named the child ‘Poovizhi’.In another case, a boy child rescued from Arisipalayam in Madukkarai taluk on July 13, 2026, was admitted to CMCH for treatment. The child was subsequently taken into the care of the DCPU and produced before the CWC on July 29, 2026. The committee has named him ‘Aadithiyan’.Officials have requested any person claiming parental or legal rights over either child to approach the District Child Protection Officer with relevant proof and supporting documents within 30 days from the date of the notice.The DCPU can be contacted at 0422-2300305 or through email at dcpucoimbatore@gmail.com.Officials said that if no valid claim is received within the stipulated period, the children would be declared legally free for adoption under the Adoption Regulations, 2022.
