Officers of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in Krishna district rescued a 14-year-old girl who had been married off to a 34-year-old man from Tatakuntla village in the NTR District. Acting on a tip-off, CWC officials, with the help of NGO representatives, rescued the minor girl, who was pregnant, said CWC chairperson K. Suvartha on Sunday (July 19, 2026). The girl was referred to a Child Care Institution for care and protection, and the case has been forwarded to the Vissannapeta police for necessary action, Ms. Suvartha stated.
