The Udupi police have arrested an alleged drug peddler, Iqbal, alias Iqbal Sheikh, under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.In a press release, the police said Iqbal, 34, a resident of 76 Badagabettu in Udupi, is an accused in five cases of drug peddling registered in Manipal and Udupi Town police stations. All five cases are under trial. He was previously convicted in two cases for consuming drugs.Based on a report by Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Amit Singh passed an order for the arrest of Iqbal on Thursday.
