New details have emerged about the most eagerly awaited wedding of the year. The "Jornal de Notícias" (source in Portuguese) obtained the marriage record between Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez, reporting that the civil ceremony took place at the couple's home in Cascais on Tuesday 11 August at 1.30 p.m.
In addition to their five children,as had initially been disclosed by the agency representing the player, four witnesses. were also present. They were Miguel Paixão, a friend of the footballer since his youth academy days at Sporting, Ivana Rodríguez, Georgina's sister, and José Rodríguez Sangil and Mónica González Martínez, a Spanish jeweller and his wife.
The marriage was formalised by Maria Manuel Folhadela de Oliveira, a registrar who travelled from the city of Porto to conduct the ceremony.
The document also shows that the Portuguese footballer and his wife opted for the separate property regime (source in Portuguese). Under this arrangement, each spouse generally retains ownership of the assets they already held before the wedding, as well as any property they acquire afterwards.
However, the separate property regime is not the standard regime for marriages in Portugal and, to choose it, couples must sign a prenuptial agreement. In Cristiano and Georgina's case, the document reveals that this agreement was signed the day before the ceremony, at a notary office in Lisbon.
