United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Thursday, August 13, that it has initiated the establishment of its first multinational, multi-domain attack drone unit.
According to an official post published on CENTCOM’s X account, the unit, designated as Task Force “Falcon Strike,” will deploy one-way attack (suicide) drones along with uncrewed aerial, surface, and subsurface systems, bringing together military personnel from the United States and regional allies.
CENTCOM noted that formal consultations and invitations to regional partner nations to join the unit have commenced. With their integration, Task Force Falcon Strike will consolidate attack drone capabilities across the Middle East within a unified, multinational, and multi-domain command structure.
The launch of this multinational force comes nine months after the creation of “Scorpion Strike,” an entity that CENTCOM is credited with deploying attack drones in military operations against Iran, as well as utilizing uncrewed attack surface vessels during strikes on Iranian port facilities in July of this year.
