Greece's tourism minister is assuring Israeli visitors that they are safe in Greece, despite a series of attacks on tourists that drew condemnation from the Greek Jewish community.
Olga Kefalogianni said Friday that Greece "guarantees the safety" of all visitors.
"Racist and violent acts are punished in an exemplary fashion, receive full condemnation and have no place in our democracy," she said.
"Greece remains a fully safe, hospitable and open destination ... for Israeli citizens and all other visitors," she said.
A string of protests targeting groups of Israeli visitors on cruise ships, and even harassment or violence against individual Israelis have been recorded in Greece following the war in Gaza, while Greek city walls have been daubed with anti-Israeli slogans.
