The company has unveiled its new flagship Insta360 X6, a camera designed to do the job of three devices at once. It combines an 8K 360 camera, a traditional action camera, and an AI-powered tracking camera into a single pocket-sized package, making it one of the biggest upgrades the X series has seen in years.
Available today for around $700, the X6’s launch promotions include complimentary cloud storage and AI editing benefits for early buyers. But this new camera isn’t simply about adding more megapixels. Instead, Insta360 is focusing on something that resonates with travelers and content creators alike: carrying less gear without sacrificing flexibility.
For travelers, motorcyclists, cyclists, vloggers, and outdoor adventurers, the ability to shoot first and decide on the camera angle later remains one of the biggest advantages of 360 cameras. The X6 records everything around you in 8K at up to 50fps, allowing users to reframe videos afterward instead of worrying about pointing the camera in exactly the right direction.
When you don’t need immersive footage, the camera switches into a traditional action camera, recording up to 5K/60 video or 4K/120 for slow motion. A new tracking mode can also automatically keep people, pets, or moving objects centered in the frame, essentially mimicking footage that would normally require a motorized gimbal.
