The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on August 14 notified a set of 40 questions to be asked by Census officers for collecting information through the Household Schedule in connection with the Census of India 2027. The notification was issued by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan.The 40 questions notified by the MHA are:1. Name of the person2. Relationship to head3. Sex4. Date of Birth and Age (in completed years)5. Current Marital Status6. Age at Marriage (in completed years)7. Spouse Name8. Nationality as declared9. Religion10. Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Caste11. Father’s Particulars12. Mother’s Particulars13. Disability14. Mother Tongue and other languages known15. Literacy and digital literacy status16. The questionnaire included a query on whether the head of the household belonged to the SC, ST or "other" category.The second phase, or Population Enumeration (PE), is scheduled for February 2027 and will collect demographic, socio-economic, educational, migration, fertility and other details of individuals.
