Ankara, Cairo agree on stronger Gaza response: Fidan
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Türkiye and Egypt had agreed on the need for stronger measures over Gaza following talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, on Aug. 14.
Speaking at a joint press conference after the second meeting of the Türkiye-Egypt Joint Planning Group in El Alamein, Fidan accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of pursuing policies that “trample on human dignity” and provoke the international community.
He said the situation in Gaza had become a security issue for the wider international community, not only the Middle East.
“We agreed that stronger measures were needed,” Fidan said, adding that the two sides reviewed humanitarian access, efforts to prevent attacks targeting Palestinians and compliance with the Gaza peace plan.
